Mod 5
SLP Assignment

For the
present assignment please provide an essay that identifies key organizational
efforts that are (or would be) among the most useful or important in your
chosen organization to assure control of important organizational processes.
Focus in particular on the core technologies of the organization. You can
discuss control efforts and strategies already utilized by your company, and/or
make recommendations that you believe would be useful for your organization to
consider.

Begin
your essay with a thesis statement in the introductory paragraph that
identifies what you consider to be the key organizational control efforts that
are (or would be) important to the success of your organization, and then
develop a persuasive essay to support your thesis.

Remember
to use background readings to support your key arguments and to cite and
reference your sources. Your goal is to convince your professor, who will
require some well-reasoned and well-supported arguments. Actual examples of
control and accountability systems in action and how they work in your
organization will also help to add support to your arguments, but you need to
be more than descriptive. You also need to explain how and why the the controls
work and why they are needed.

The
grading rubric below has been developed to measure student success in meeting
the MGT301 5 SLP expectations related to applying business theories and problem
solving. Rubrics for the other two courses are included in their assignments.

SLP Assignment Expectations

In this
paper, your ability to think critically and provide insightful analysis is the
key. You do not want to just describe a few organizational control efforts, you
need to bring together ideas, examples and background readings to convince your
professor that your thesis statement is sound. Remember to organize your paper
for clarity and document any outside resources.

The
following criteria will also be used to assess your paper:

the paper address the question(s) or task(s)?

the full breadth of the subject, i.e., all the keys to the assignment,
addressed?

the paper/report address all elements of the topic in sufficient depth? Does it
include and apply the background readings and other background resources? Are
they included as references?

>Critical

and relevantly?

>Organization: Is
the paper organized in a coherent and systematic manner? Are headings included
in all papers greater than 2 pages?

the writing clear and the concepts articulated properly? Are paraphrasing and
synthesis of concepts the primary means of response to the questions, or are
thoughts conveyed through excessive use of quotations?
