1. (20 points). Briefly describe each of the functions of the management process. Describe
how Mintzberg’s managerial roles are helpful in performing the functions of management.
Discuss how the essential managerial skills defined by Katz fit into Mintzberg’s roles.
2. (20 points). Discuss where emotional intelligence (EI) fits into the skill set of managers
and why it is important. Can EI be learned? Why or why not? Discuss what managers can do
to identify EI weaknesses and address them. Describe how tools like the Johari Window, or
